NEW POWER FROM ATLAS O: Atlas O has added two more locomotives to its lineup of O gauge power. The Baldwin VO-1000 diesel switcher joins the Master Line in Lehigh Valley, Nashville, Chattanooga & St. Louis; Rock Island, Southern Pacific, Santa Fe and Western Pacific road names. The Alco RS-11 is joining the Trainman line in Burlington Northern, Delaware & Hudson, Duluth, Winnipeg & Pacific; Maine Central, Penn Central, ad Southern Pacific road names. Both models have Electric RR Co. “Cruise Commander technology,” smoke unit, and an improved RailSounds system. The models have two motors, crewmen, and a die-cast metal chassis. 70 YEARS IN THE MAKING: Lionel’s no. 2400-series green-and-gray O-27 streamlined passenger cars made their debut in 1948 and always seemed like orphans without a matching locomotive. Until now, that is. Lionel’s no. 82726 Postwar FA passenger set features a conventional Alco FA diesel A-A pair. The powered unit has two can-style motors, an electronic reverse unit, and an electronic horn. The cars have interior illumination, window silhouettes and die-cast metal trucks.
