What do I collect?
I collect the General Mills era of Lionel production (1969-1986), with a focus on the Model Products Corporation (MPC) era from 1970-1972. I like to collect the more obscure and less documented pieces from the later parts of the era as well, since it hasn’t been as heavily documented as the postwar era.
When did I start collecting?

I started collecting in 2015, but didn’t start collecting seriously until 2017 when I got my first MPC piece. From there I was hooked.

What’s my favorite piece and why?
My favorite MPC piece is the No. 8022 Blue Santa Fe Alco diesel made exclusively for JCPenney. For a department store special piece that wasn’t produced in high numbers, there are a lot of interesting variations, including several separate sale versions and a train set.
What’s the best thing about collecting the General Mills era of Lionel ?
The best thing about collecting this era of Lionel is the camaraderie between fellow General Mills collectors. Since this era is more specialized and focused than others, there is a smaller and more passionate fan base. This makes for interesting and dynamic discussion among a unique group of individuals.
What advice would I give to a newcomer?

Be as open-minded as possible about new variations and undiscovered pieces within the production runs. There are lots of neat things within this hobby that have yet to be seen or noticed, and this mentality has helped me find some of the most unique pieces in my collection.
