Trains LIVE — Chasing Big Boy

Trains LIVE — 08-03-2022 — this week, Bob Lettenberger talks with Kevin Gilliam about his new role as a Kalmbach videographer and their recent adventure chasing Union Pacific No. 4014 — Big Boy!

Many will know Kevin through the years as the primary videographer for Trains Magazine DVDs but also the long-running Trains Presents series found in the Railfanning section.

Recently, Bob and Kevin traveled to Colorado and Wyoming to follow Union Pacific No. 4014 on an excursion for Cheyenne, Wyo. to Denver and back. For 2022, this will be the only trip led by the world’s largest operating steam locomotive. Kevin and Bob both shot video and still photos of the trek. Bob also had the opportunity to ride along in the cab of No. 4014 from Greeley, Colo., to Cheyenne.

In today’s program Kevin discusses good techniques to capture great video footage. He also has some tips on how to prepare for your next train chasing adventure. Bob shares his experiences in the cab of the Big Boy, during his once-in-a-lifetime ride.
