The ScaleTrains Electro-Motive Division GP39E HO scale (1:87.1) diesel locomotive is featured in this latest product review video from Model Railroader magazine. Senior Editor Cody Grivno reviews the unit, which is part of the manufacturer’s Rivet Counter line.

The reviewed model is decorated as Burlington Northern GP39E No. 2762. This unit has a rich history, originally built in 1962 as Southern Railway No. 2532, a high-hood GP30. It was later remanufactured by EMD in 1991, receiving a new cab and low short hood, and was reclassified as a GP39E.

Key features include a factory-applied snow plow, metal semi-scale type E knuckle couplers, and a detailed cab interior. The sample features an ESU LokSound V5 sound decoder, which controls light functions (headlight, ditch lights, and ground lights), as well as sound functions (horn, bell, and engine startup).

Direct current models retail for $204.99, while versions with the LokSound V5 decoder are priced at $314.99.
