The Rapido Trains HO scale E8 diesel locomotive decorated as Amtrak No. 4316 paid a visit to Model Railroader’s Milwaukee, Racine & Troy layout. The six-axle passenger locomotive is decorated in Amtrak’s “day one” paint scheme.

Features on the Rapido Trains HO scale E8 diesel locomotive include an injection-molded plastic body; a passenger pilot; separate, factory-applied MU hoses; Pennsylvania RR-style nose lift lugs; nose side, “eyebrow,” and roof grab irons; vertical Farr grills; and a dual steam generator. Additional prototype-specific details include rebuilt side panels without portholes, no fuel tank skirts, and a missing MU door on the nose.

Lighting features on the E8 include headlights, class lights, backup lights, cab lights, and ground lights. The model is equipped with a dual-mode ESU LokSound V5 sound decoder.

The model includes a foam-lined engraved wood presentation box, an enamel pin, and a numbered certificate of authenticity signed by Rapido President and CEO Jason Shron and Amtrak Brand Communications Manager Matt Donnelly.

The Rapido Trains HO scale E8 decorated as Amtrak No. 4316 is priced at $399.95. In addition to the Amtrak “day one” unit, Rapido offers Electro-Motive Division E8A and E8B diesel locomotives in a variety of other paint schemes, including Amtrak (phase 1); Chicago, Burlington & Quincy; Canadian Pacific; CP Rail; Erie Lackawanna; Illinois Central; New York Central; Pennsylvania RR; Southern Ry.; Union Pacific; and VIA Rail Canada.
