Rapido Trains recently released their General Motors Diesel F40PH-2D diesel locomotive. Associate Editor Bryson Sleppy hosts a Product Review video of this new N scale passenger locomotive. He demonstrates the details on the locomotive as well as lighting and sound effects from the dual-mode ESU LokSound 5 sound decoder. Finally, he takes passengers on the VIA Rail Canadian around the State Line Route staff layout.

Paint schemes for this mode include the Original “as-delivered” scheme (1986-1998) in four road numbers, the Canada scheme (1998-2014) in four road numbers, and the rebuilt “Renaissance” scheme (2015-present) in seven road numbers. Undecorated models in both the original and rebuilt body styles are also available.

Features on the Rapido Trains General Motors Diesel F40PH-2D include prototype-specific details, factory-applied grab irons and handrails, underbody details including separate piping, and scheme-specific rooftop details. The locomotive features light-emitting diode lighting including headlights, ditch lights, and number boxes.

Direct-current models with a Next18 plug are priced at $169.95. Locomotives with a dual-mode ESU LokSound 5 sound decoder retail for $279.95.
