The Atlas Classic HO Alco RS11 is back in new paint schemes and road numbers. We recently received a sample decorated for Burlington Northern, and our resident BN fan, Senior Editor Cody Grivno, is here with the scoop. Learn about the full-size Alco RS11 and Burlington Northern 4183; get a close-up look at the factory-applied details on the model; and check out the light and sound functions on our review sample, which has an ESU LokSound V5 sound decoder. Finally, watch the RS11 switch cars on our Winston-Salem Southbound Tar Branch project layout.

In addition to Burlington Northern (Northern Pacific patchout), new road names on the Atlas Classic HO Alco RS11 include Duluth, Winnipeg & Pacific (American Revolution Bicentennial scheme); Genesee Valley (green and yellow); Pacific RR (yellow and blue); Sonora Baja California (red and white); and Norfolk & Western (black and white). New numbers are offered on models decorated for Conrail (blue and white), Lehigh Valley (maroon and gold), Louisville & Nashville (gray and yellow), and Penn Central (black and white). The RS11 is available in one to two numbers per scheme.

The HO scale Alco RS11 has an injection-molded plastic body and die-cast metal frame. Additional features include directional, golden-white light-emitting-diode lighting; factory-installed and painted wire grab irons; body-mounted Accumate couplers; freestanding m.u. hoses and uncoupling levers; and two painted crew figures.

Direct-current models with 21-pin plug are priced at $174.95. Versions with an ESU LokSound V5 sound decoder sell for $289.95
