Thanks to Mr. Popp for a very informative video. I do have one nit to pick with him, however. Early in the video, the red circuit board that he called “the decoder” is actually a motherboard. That’s why it has MB in the part number printed on the board. The smaller circuit board that he called a “sound chip” is actually the decoder. That particular model is a TCS sound decoder, but other brands of 21-pin decoders can be used, including non-sound decoders.
You should be able to switch the forward and reverse lights changing the function table so you don’t have to resolder.
