Model Railroader After Hours | February 29, 2024. After Hours is an informal livestream hosted by Trains.com staff members... after the “work” of the day is done, there’s aways something else fun! Host David Popp shares the frame with Trains.com Video Producer Ben Lake. Ben walks through a recent 3D printing effort, before David turns his attention to scenery on his Olympia & Sand Creek On30 display layout in the basement.

  1. Very much enjoyed seeing real basement railroading session!! In the northeast that’s how it is. My parents basement and mine. Multiple projects happening all at once.
    Thank you,
    Daniel

  2. Audio is an art unto itself! In my opinion, the best mike would be head-worn, usually over one ear, coming forward to about the level of the user’s mouth. But it must never be in front of the mouth, always off to the side. Being head-worn, its relationship to the voice never changes, no matter where the user looks. These usually include an attached RF transmitter and a receiver near the audio control board. The ONLY problem with these mics is their cost!! And they also eat batteries!

  3. Castle wall: Simulate a very large (wide) block of rock that split off the original bluff/rock face. Leave a noticeable gap/fracture face between it and the ‘new’ rock. Prolly what the some of the San Andreas fault may look like soon. ??

  4. Hi David and Ben,

Looking forward to the Olympia Ops session that you mentioned at the end of the session!

Also, you may be planning this already, but that river canyon looks perfect for a fly fishing angler!

Can’t get enough of the Olympia and Sand Creek!

    Marc

  5. Really like being in David’s basement.
Really don’t like the new microphone. The volume keeps rising and falling so much it becomes detracting from the otherwise excellent content.
