Dan Cupper is a retired Norfolk Southern locomotive engineer and former newspaper reporter. He is a correspondent for Trains Magazine and its digital counterpart, Trains News Wire. A graduate of Penn State’s journalism school, he has authored books about Horseshoe Curve, Rockville Bridge, and the Grif Teller calendar art of the Pennsylvania Railroad, which won the 1993 book award from the Railway & Locomotive Historical Society. Since 2020, he has been editor of R&LHS’s scholarly journal Railroad History.
