Doug Tagsold’s Colorado & Southern in 1:72 scale | Model Railroader Editor Eric White stops to visit with frequent MR contributor Doug Tagsold and his unique 40 x 52-foot 1:72 scale narrow gauge layout. The C&S Clear Creek District is a double-deck model railroad, set between Denver, Colo., and the Rocky Mountains during the 1920s. Designed for slow-speed, timetable-and-train-order operation, this layout allows operators plenty of time to enjoy amazing scenes found along the 725-foot linear mainline run, complete with a notable 3% grade! Catch a sneak peek before crowds arrive to visit the display during the 2025 NMRA National Convention!

You won’t want to miss the guided tour presented here, or as featured in the July 2025 issue of Model Railroader magazine — not to mention additional Michigan-area layouts also highlighted in MR and on Trains.com Video!
