Six hospitalized after light rail fire in Dallas

DALLAS — Six people have been taken to the hospital for treatment following a fire on a Dallas Area Rapid Transit light rail train in downtown Dallas today (July 30, 2025).

The fire was reported about 3:30 p.m., according to KTVT-TV, with first responders fighting the fire at a tunnel entrance near the Pearl/Arts District station. Dallas Fire-Rescue reports 10 to 15 people were on board; none of those hospitalized had life-threatening injuries.

DART service in downtown Dallas has been suspended, DART said in a social media post about 4 p.m. CT, with shuttle buses available at nine downtown stations. Passengers have been cautioned to expect significant delays.

  1. we do not know the cause of this fire. However, Dallas light rail has been having to cancel light rail and substitute buses at various spots because of “overhead wire problems” for the last few months. As well street car has had one or both vehicles OOS at various times. Wonder if this is due to the excessive heat in Dallas?
