TRENTON, N.J. — NJ Transit has become the latest rail entity to mark the coming 250th anniversary of U.S. independence, wrapping a trainset from its light rail River Line with graphics marking the anniversary in 2026.
Photographer Adam Reich captured the trainset testing at the Trenton Transit Center last week. It is one of the system’s 20 articulated, Swiss-built Stadler GTW diesel multiple unit trainsets, with seats for 90 passengers and standing room for another 94.
The River Line is a rare diesel-powered light rail system, covering 34 miles and serving 21 stations between Trenton and Camden, N.J. It offers connects to NJ Transit and Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority commuter trains, the PATCO Speedline between Philadelphia and Lindenwold, N.J., and Amtrak.
