Tri-Rail_logoPOMPANO BEACH, Fla. — The parent agency of Florida commuter operator Tri-Rail has named an interim executive director and launched the search to hire a permanent replacement.

At a Friday meeting, the South Florida Regional Transportation Authority board named Diane Hernandez del Calvo, currently deputy executive director, to serve in the interim leadership role.

Del Calvo joined the authority as deputy executive director of administration in February 2019 and was promoted to her current position in May 2021. The current executive director, David Dech, is moving to the Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District as its president, succeeding the retiring Michael Noland [see “Dech named new president …,” Trains.com, Jan. 27, 2026].  Dech’s last day on the job in Florida was Friday.
