CHICAGO — Metra will open an online merchandise store on Wednesday, Dec. 10, offering Metra-branded merchandise such as replica station signs, T-shirts and hoodies, and mugs and water bottles. It is the first time the commuter rail operator has offered such products for sale.

“This new store is part of our ongoing efforts to strengthen our connection with riders and the community,” Metra Executive Director/CEO Jim Derwinski said in a press release. “If someone on your gift list loves Metra and rail travel, we encourage you to check out our store.”

Among items to be offered are blankets and shower curtains featuring the Metra system map; a clock with the colors and abbreviations of all Metra lines; and a personalized pate with images of Metra locomotives and railcars. The store will be online at merch.metra.com; customers can also call 888-982-2210. Metra does caution shoppers to review each item’s product page to see the estimated shipping time for that time.
