NEW YORK — Alstom has named Marc Bernier as vice president, Rolling Stock and Components, North America, the company announced this week.

Bernier had previously served as chief financial officer for the Americas and before that was chief financial officer for Bombardier Transportation in North America, which he had joined in 2019 from Bombardier Inc. Alstom acquired Bombardier Transportation in a deal announced in 2020 [see “Alstom reaches agreement …,” Trains.com, Feb. 17, 2020]. The acquisition was completed in January 2021.

The company said Bernier brings a wealth of experience from leadership roles in aerospace, consumer goods, banking, and audit industries.

“I am thrilled to welcome Marc in his new capacity as part of the Alstom Americas executive team,” Michael Keroullé, CEO of Alstom Americas, said in a press release. “Marc played a pivotal role in the transformation of the company since the acquisition of Bombardier Transportation in 2021, and has been a key contributor in the successful strengthening of Alstom in our region. In this new role, he and his team will continue to deliver on our commitment, to make Alstom the best rail technology partner to our customers and the communities they serve.”

Alstom’s Rolling Stock and Components business in North America produces and maintains equipment for high-speed, commuter, metro, and light rail operations. Its U.S. plants include facilities in Hornell and Plattsburgh, N.Y., and West Mifflin, Pa.; it is the only passenger rail manufacturer in Canada, with engineering and prototyping facilities in St-Bruno, Quebec, and four manufacturing facilities in Quebec and Ontario.
