GREEN RIVER, Wyo. — OmniTRAX has signed an agreement to provide switching for WE Soda’s Westvaco soda ash mine in Green River, Wyo., its second such announcement for service in Green River in little more than a week.
Westvaco is the largest North America facility for WE Soda, the world’s largest soda ash producer. Under the agreement, OmniTRAX will provided dedicated switching for the facility, with annual cargo voluments projected to exceed 3.5 million tons.
“WE Soda is the global market leader and a visionary company,” OmniTRAX Co-CEO Dean Piacente said in a press release. “We are excited to partner with WE Soda and provide safe and reliable rail service that can scale with their North American mining operations. WE Soda’s Wyoming facility is a vital production hub to serve domestic and global demand for soda ash.”
On Aug. 6, OmniTRAX announced it had become the switching partner for Tata Chemical Soda Ash Partners’ mine in Green River [see “OmniTRAX to provide rail service …,” Trains.com, Aug. 6, 2025].
Just curious, is OmniTRAX taking over from in house switching or another switching contractor?
Another witching contractor, replacing the previous one…
