INDIANAPOLIS — Derrick Wright has been named president and CEO of the Indiana Rail Road, the railroad’s board of directors announced last week.
The appointment was effective Jan. 16.
Wright joined the railroad as vice president of operations and mechanical, coming from the Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District, where he was chief operating officer. He previously spent time at Genesee & Wyoming and CSX Transportation.
“Derrick’s deep industry knowledge and leadership experience make him the ideal choice to guide INRD into its next chapter,” the railroad said in a press release. “We are confident that under his leadership, INRD will continue to deliver safe, efficient, and innovative transportation solutions for our customers.”
Wright succeeds Joseph Gioe, who became the railroad’s CEO in August 2024 [see “Indiana Rail Road names Gioe …,” Trains.com, Aug. 6, 2024]. Gioe joined Cando Rail & Terminals last November.
