ST. PAUL, Minn. — Minnesota Commercial Railway has joined the growing number of railroads with locomotives commemorating the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence in 2026, introducing B36-7 No. 76 in red, white, and blue paint on Thursday (Nov. 25).
The locomotive was built by General Electric in 1985 for Seaboard System. Before coming to Minnesota Commercial, it was Transkentucky Transportation No. 5884. Crews have been preparing the unit since early October, reports Matt Schwerin, vice president, Western Region, of Regional Rail LLC, which acquired Minnesota Commercial earlier this year.
The 86-mile railroad, headquartered in the Midway between Minneapolis and St. Paul, serves the Twin Cities and interchanges with BNSF, CPKC, Union Pacific, Canadian National, and Twin Cities & Western.
