PITTSFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Thirteen cars of an Ann Arbor Railroad train derailed early today (Feb. 18, 2026), leading to road closures that could last for several days.
The Pittsfield Township Police said in a Facebook post that the police and fire departments were dispatched to the derailment scene at 5:06 a.m. No injuries were reported and no hazardous materials were involved.
Police said two road closures had resulted: Payeur Road between State Street and Marion Road, and Morgan Road between Venture Drive and Stone School Road.
A railroad representative said in an email to the Ann Arbor News that the company is “currently investigating the incident and actively working to clear the scene and return the railroad to normal operations.”
The Ann Arbor Railroad, a Watco property since 2013, operates approximately 82 miles of track, mostly between Ann Arbor, Mich., and Toledo, Ohio. The derailment scene is about 5.5 miles south of Ann Arbor.
