BENNETTSVILLE, S.C. — A man has been charged with grand larceny for allegedly stealing railroad track valued at $22,000 from Aberdeen & Rockfish Railroad property in Bennettsville, the Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office said in a social media post on Monday, Aug. 25, 2025.
Walter Tyndall was also charged with trespassing on a railroad track following his arrest. He is being held at the Marlboro County Detention Center; bond will be set at a later date. No information was provided on Tyndall’s age or place of residence.
The incident actually occurred on the Pee Dee River Railway, a subsidiary of North Carolina’s Aberdeen & Rockfish. The 15-mile Pee Dee operates between Bennettsville and McColl, S.C.
I’m thinking it was probably stick rail being stored.
Presume this was jointed rail.
No info on how he did it. Hard to believe he did this all by himself.
