BALTIMORE — Tyler Horner has been named as CEO of Canton Development Corp. and its subsidiaries Canton Railroad Co. and Freestate Logistics Services.
Horner will succeed Paul Barnes, who the company said is moving on to pursue other challenges after turning around the organization and bringing it to a more efficient level of performance. The company’s board of directors congratulated Barnes for significant new business development, organizationl restructuring, yield, and profitability improvements, saying, “We are grateful for his leadership and contributions as he turns the reins over to Mr. Horner.”
Horner had been serving as the company’s executive vice president and chief operating officer. He has been with the Canton Railroad Co. since 2016.
The Canton Railroad Co., founded in 1906, operates in the Baltimore area and is owned by the Maryland Transportation Authority. It operates 16 miles of track, according to the 2022 Maryland State Rail Plan. Its subsidiary Freestate Logistics provides industrial switching to the GE Appliance Distribution Center and Americold Logistics in Perryville, Md.
