INDEPENDENCE, Ohio — The Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen announced it has reached a tentative agreement with Genesee & Wyoming’s Indiana & Ohio Railway, with a ratification vote now in progress.
If ratified, the agreement would run through 2031 and provide wage increases of 7% in 2026, 4.5% each year from 2027 to 2030, and 3% in 2031, for a total increase (uncompounded) of 28%. It also includes a one-time signing bonus of $2,000, an increase in bereavement leave, and increases in training pay and various expense allowances.
Ratification ballots are due by March 19.
The Indiana & Ohio, a G&W property since 2012, operates 511 miles of track in Indiana, Ohio, and Michigan, with 468 of those miles in Ohio. It interchanges at multiple locations with CSX and Norfolk Southern, and also has interchanges with Canadian National and five short line and regional railroads.
