KMMO Radio reports the derailment occurred about 2 a.m. and led to a closure of a section of U.S. Route 50, while the Johnson County Emergency Agency says in a social media post that two intersections on the highway “are going to be blocked for quite a while.”

Notices on the Amtrak Alerts social media page indicate both round trips of the Missouri River Runner, trains 311-316 and 318-319, have been canceled “due to track closure stemming from a disabled freight train.”

The derailment is about 74 miles rail southeast of Kansas City, Mo., on Union Pacific’s Sedalia Subdivision.
