CHAMPION, Alberta — Thirty-four cars of a Canadian Pacific Kansas City train derailed Thursday, Nov. 27, north of the village of Champion, Global News reports.
The derailment occurred about noon. No injuries were reported, and no hazardous materials were involved. CPKC told the broadcaster that 31 of the cars were carrying grain while the other three were carrying vegetable oil. Part of provincial Route 23 paralleling the tracks was shut down.
Champion is about 38 miles northwest of Lethbridge, Alta., on CPKC’s Aldersyde Subdivision, and about 82 miles southeast of Calgary.
