TSB to investigate CN derailment in Saskatchewan

49 cars of potash reportedly involved

WINNIPEG, Manitoba — The Transportation Safety Board of Canada is dispatching an investigator to the derailment of a Canadian National train today (March 12) near Leross, Saskatchewan, the TSB has announced.

The CBC reports that 49 cars of potash derailed in an incident about 5:40 a.m., closing one lane of Saskatchewan Route 15, and described the site as near Lestock, Sask., 9 kilometers west of Leross. CN told the broadcaster that there were no injuries, fires, leaks, or dangerous materials involved.

Leross is on CN’s Watrous Subdivision, approximately 140 miles east of Saskatoon, Sask.
