SEATTLE — Sound Transit will offer additional service on Wednesday, Feb. 11, for the city’s parade to mark the Seattle Seahawks’ Super Bowl championship.

Up to 1 million fans are expected for events including a ticketed celebration at the team’s stadium, Lumen Field, at 10 a.m., followed by a parade beginning at 11 a.m. from the SODO district that includes the stadium to the Belltown district. KOMO News has details here.

Sound Transit’s plans call for four additional Sounder commuter trains — No. 1801, an 8:45 a.m. N Line departure from Everett arriving in Seattle at 9:44 a.m.; No. 1600, an 8:50 a.m. S Line departure from Tacoma arriving in Seattle at 9:52 a.m., and two S Line trains from Lakewood: No. 1602 departing at 8:51 and arriving at 10:07 a.m., and No. 1604, departing at 9:16 a.m. and arriving at 10:32 a.m. For the return journey, extra cars will be added to regularly operating trains. The schedule for those added trains, including intermediate stops, is here; the full regular schedule is available here.

Also, the light rail 1 Line will see trains operating at approximately 6-minute intervals from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Sound Transit cautions passengers to expect heavy crowds on trains and at stations, and recommends taking earlier trains or, for those not attending the parade, working from home if possible. Park-and-ride lots are also expected to fill earlier than usual. Details on alternatives and other information are available here. Information from bus operator King County Metro and other regional transit agencies is available here.

  1. Here is hoping that every available passenger cars and light rails are able to be used. Has the problem of Sound rail cars not available been fixed?
