STOCKTON, Calif. — A derailment at Union Pacific’s yard in Stockton initially knocked out power for about 17,000 customers today (Feb. 2), but by midday most had their electricity restored.
The Stockton Record reports the derailment occurred about 8 a.m. A Union Pacific spokeswoman said three cars of soybean oil derailed and knocked over an electrical tower. No injuries were reported.
By 3:30 p.m., KCRA-TV reported, power had been restored to all but about 100 customers, and Pacific Gas & Electric expected most of those to have service restored by 5:30 p.m. PT.
UP said the cause of the derailment is under investigation.
