KINGSPORT, Tenn. — The CSX Santa Train distributed more than 15,000 toys, 6,000 train safety books, and 5,700 backpacks filled with gifts, gloves, and hats on Saturday (Nov. 22) as part of part of its 83rd trip on a 110-mile route through Kentucky, Virginia, and Tennessee.
“The CSX Santa Train embodies the best of what the holiday season represents – community, generosity and connection,” said Bryan Tucker, CSX vice president of stakeholder engagement and sustainability. “Every year, we cherish being part of something that continues to bring joy and hope to families in this region, especially after the challenges that many of them have faced this year.” Much of the area faced severe flooding from Hurricane Helene a year ago; some of the communities also were hit by flooding this July.
Nonprofit Good360 served as this year’s official winter clothing partner, providing thousands of gloves and hats in collaboration with CSX. Other sponsors include Appalachian Power, Food City, and the Kingsport Chamber of Commerce.
