CHICAGO — The Chicago Transit Authority has announced the schedule for its 2025 CTA Holiday Fleet, a specially decorated L train and bus that roam the system beginning in late November.
The Holiday Bus begins operation on Tuesday, Nov. 25; train operations begin Friday, Nov. 28. Both are sponsored by Allstate. This is the 34th year for the Holiday Train.
“The Allstate CTA Holiday Fleet is one of CTA’s and Chicago’s most beloved and unique traditions, and I’m proud that our employees bring it to life each year,” CTA Acting President Nora Leerhsen said in a press release. “The Allstate CTA Holiday Fleet reflects the creativity, commitment, and heart of CTA’s workforce, who work hard every day to make our riders’ holidays a magical and memorable experience.”
The Holiday train features six decorated passenger railcars and a flatcar carrying Santa in his sleigh. The train will operate on all eight lines, with the full train operating on 17 days between Nov. 28 and Dec. 20, and two-car trains operating on the Yellow Line (Skokie Swift) on Dec. 22. On operating days, the train can be followed by finding the Candy Cane icon on the CTA Train Tracker. Full schedules are available here.
The Holiday Bus will operate on 19 routes between Nov. 25 and Dec. 20, two more than in 2024. It can be found using the CTA’s Holiday Bus Tracker.
