CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. —Pennsylvania & Southern has joined the small but growing number of short line and regional railroads commemorating the 250th anniversary of American independence in 2026.

The railroad serving the Cumberland Valley Business Park, midway between Harrisburg, Pa., and Hagerstown, Md., which already had a red, white & blue paint scheme for its diesels, has added an “America 250” logo to SW1200RS No. 16, the “Ben Franklin,” as well as lettering along the frame reading “United States of America — 1776-2026 — 250 years.” At least two more of the P&S locomotives will commemorate the 250th anniversary.

The railroad operates approximately 25 miles of trackage purchased in 2023 from the Letterkenny Industrial Development Authority.
