CHICAGO — Members of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen who operate on Metra’s Union Pacific lines have ratified a new contract, the BLET said on Friday (Oct. 10, 2025).

The contract, which calls for a 3.5% wage increase, was ratified by a 60-1 vote. The pay increases will take effect no later than the second pay period following the ratification, with retroactive pay to July 1, 2025, to be issued within 30 days.

Metra operates on three Union Pacific lines. Operating jobs were transferred from Union Pacific in May as part of a transition that has largely been completed from an operational standpoint, but remains the subject of legal and regulatory battles between the two organizations.
