FORT WORTH, Texas — BNSF Railway has completed a pair of capacity projects in Texas and Arizona.

On the Fort Worth Subdivision, the railroad has wrapped up a multiyear project that added eight miles of second main line between Lake Wanda and Bredenberg, just north of downtown Fort Worth.

“Located between our Alliance facilities and Tower 55, this high-traffic corridor connects to the Wichita Falls Subdivision. The new double track improves network efficiency and capacity on one of our busiest routes,” BNSF said in a customer advisory last week.

On the Phoenix Subdivision, BNSF has completed a new 10,000-foot passing siding at Congress and extended the Tucker Siding to 10,000 feet.

“These improvements help reduce congestion and enable trains to move more efficiently in both directions. Together, they enhance fluidity and velocity for traffic moving to and from Phoenix and connecting with our Southern Transcon,” BNSF said.

The railway also made progress on its project adding a third main track at Ash Hill on its Needles Subdivision in California.

“As part of a multi-year initiative to expand capacity on our Needles Subdivision, we continued work on the next phase, making progress on installing triple track and signal on an 11-mile segment beginning approximately 50 miles east of Barstow,” BNSF said. “Expanding capacity on this vital Transcon corridor supports consistent service and long-term growth. This segment is scheduled to go into service next year.”
