COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. — Katherine Bourdon has been appointed as general counsel for the New York, Susquehanna & Western Railway, the railroad announced this week. The appointment was effective Aug. 20.
Bourdon has more than 20 years of experience in railroads and transportation, including 15 years as an attorney. She will lead the railroad’s legal affairs, including regulatory compliance, litigation, and contract management, while serving as a legal advisor to the railroad’s president and board of directors. She comes to the NYS&W from the Federal Railroad Administration, where she provided legal counsel on rail infrastructure programs and federal grants.
“Katherine’s extensive experience in railroad regulatory matters, litigation, and legal strategy makes her an ideal fit for NYS&W,” said railroad President James Bonner. “She will continue to manage the critical and complex needs of our organization.”
She has previously worked at the Service Transportation Board and held positions with national infrastructure law firms and a Northern Virginia litigation firm. She earned her undergraduate degree from the Pmplin College of Business at Virginia Tech and her Juris Doctor from The Catholic University of America’s Columbus School of Law.
