PARIS, Ontario — A Canadian National Railway derailment on Friday morning (July 25, 2025) led to disruption of VIA Rail Canada corridor service to and from Windsor, Ont., the CBC reports.
Five trains between Toronto and Windsor were rerouted via CN’s Guelph Subdivision, while three others were cancelled entirely.
VIA service has been restored today, although as of noon ET, three of the trains on the Toronto-Windsor route were running one to four hours late.
One locomotive and 24 cars were involved in the derailment about 6 a.m. CN told the CBC there were no reports of injuires, leaks, spills, or fires, and no crossings were blocked by the incident. The Transportation Safety Board of Canada announced it was sending a team of investigators to the scene.
Paris is on CN’s Dundas Subdivision, about 9 miles west of Brantford, Ont.
A minor derailment… As always, bus service covered missed stops along the regular route.

Yes, GREGG. I’m certain we have detailed information regarding derailments in Russia, and that it’s a true apples-to-apples comparison. Of course, considering those points might deter you from making one of your typical anti-corporate comments.
Good post, Andy. Excellent post. August approaches.
Derailments, just part of doing business. Fred Fraily reported derailments in Russia were a small fraction of the US; no doubt Europe and China also perform better.
Gotta keep those 40% margins coming!
Anyone who would believe a statistic out of Russia would believe that Joe Stalin was the finest man ever to lead a nation.
Gregg, you’ve got a case.
