LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Ten cars of a CSX train derailed today (Saturday, July 5, 2025) in west Louisville, WDRB-TV reports.

No injuries were reported.

While a earlier report from WAVE-TV quoted Louisville Fire Chief Brian O’Neail as saying some of the tank cars involved were carrying some material, although no leaks occurred, a CSX representative told WDRB that all the cars were empty. Video from the station shows overturned centerbeam flat cars on a sharp curve, suggesting a string-lining accident.

A section of Broadway between 12th and 16th streets was expected to be closed all day as a result of the incident, which occurred before 8 a.m.

  1. Yep. I learned all about this as a child with my toy trains. So much for proper blocking.
