JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – CSX has released its 10th heritage locomotive, No. 1836 honoring the Richmond, Fredericksburg & Potomac.
“Here is our latest ONE CSX Heritage Locomotive … the RF&P #1836! This one is from the Richmond, Fredericksburg and Potomac Railroad, founded in 1836,” CSX CEO Joe Hinrichs wrote on LinkedIn today. “Richmond was the headquarters location for CSX before it moved to Jacksonville. Fredericksburg holds a special place for me since we lived there for a couple years in the 1990’s and our son was born there. Great job again by our team in Waycross, Georgia.”
The RF&P, which stretched 110 miles from Potomac Yard in Alexandria, Va., to Acca Yard in Richmond, Va., was a bridge line whose slogan was “Linking North & South.”
I wish they had used the “old bold” block RF&P logo…
Well CSX another good one, but how about SEABOARD AIRLINE!!!! That would be swell.
Looks fantastic. The only improvement would be to use the earlier scheme with the gold stripes.
I love the heritage units CSX has been doing. Great Job! I also liked the RF&P. It was a very well maintained bridge line, and I like the clever slogan they had.
