Trains.com Video features layout owner Bob Cochran and his 22’-10” x 25’-7” HO scale (1:87) Vermont Rail System inspired by Rutland Railroad’s Bellow Falls Subdivision. Bob grew up watching trains of Central Vermont and Boston & Maine across from his childhood home in Bellow Fall, Vt., so you’ll be sure to see plenty of Northeastern signature scenes in this Trains.com Video exclusive!

Follow the action along the line, and then look for additional coverage of the model railroad in the January 2023 issue of Model Railroader magazine!

  1. Bob excellent work. Yeah not much in Ludlow, save Okemo Mt, Ski Resort and the rail bridge over Rt. 100. Having traveled on Rt 103 numerous times to get to Rutland and or the Hubbardton battlefield for reenactments, where line crosses 103 for the last time, just before Rt 7, seems pretty steep. Were helpers used there by the Rutland?

    1. Yes back in the days of steam they had a wye at the summit for turning helpers. The grade from Bellows Falls to summit is longer grade.

  2. Well done sir! Thank you for sharing your passion of model railroading. It is both
inspirational and a source for a few ideas too!

    1. Thank you for the comment. It was fun working with the crew from Trains.com. It was full day of filming but was worth it.

    1. Thank you for the comments. Fall is my favorite time of the year which is why I choose it for my layout. Most of the locomotives where painted and decal by me.
