OMAHA — Union Pacific on Tuesday announced its Loup Logistics subsidiary had acquired the Precision Components Inc. transload facility in Phoenix, a UP-served location that processes more than 8,000 railcars and 38,000 trucks annually. The facility in central Phoenix covers more than 100 acres, with 125,000 square feet of covered storage and 3 miles of rail capacity.

“Loup is excited about the growth potential this acquisition provides to customers seeking access to the Phoenix market,” Josh Perkes, vice president, Loup, said in a press release. “Loup is backed by a strong leadership team who will seek to maximize rail throughput at the facility. We are focused on maintaining the excellent reputation PCI has built over the past 60 years, providing creative rail solutions and cost-effective transload operations.”

The deal was finalized on Dec. 30, 2021. Loup owns and operates 25 facilities in the western U.S. and has parnerships with more than 800 third-party transloaders.
