Union Pacific logo with Building America sloganOMAHA — Union Pacific will donate $500,000 to humanitarian relief in Ukraine, its largest-ever corporate donation for disaster relief, the company announced today. The funds will be split between the American Red Cross and Save the Children.

The company had previously announced a 2-1 match for employee donations to six organizations providing direct support in the Ukraine, and to date, employees have driven nearly $50,000 in matching donations from the company. In addition to the Red Cross and Save the Children, the organizations involved are the Salvation Army, UNICEF, the Global Giving Foundation, and Doctors Without Borders.

“Our hearts are with the Ukrainian people who did nothing to provoke this attack and whose lives are irrevocably changed,” UP CEO Lance Fritz said in a press release. “Our employees’ charitable donations clearly demonstrate they’re taking a stand with the Ukrainian people, and we’re proud to let their generosity guide our corporate contribution to two of many worthy organizations providing immediate aid.”

  1. I am proud to be a Union Pacific stockholder which I have been since 2008. I have also made a direct donation to a Ukraine relief fund. When I purchased the stock then each share was selling for $58.50. A few years later when the share price had passed $200.00 each they had a 2 for 1 stock split. Today the stock price has more the doubled again to around $270.00 a share.
