Amtrak logoNEW ORLEANS — With track damage still being assessed and electric power to activate highway grade crossings out over much of the region, Amtrak has cancelled the City of New Orleans to Chicago and Crescent to New York scheduled to arrive or depart New Orleans through at least Friday, Sept. 3.  Those trains will continue to turn at Memphis and Atlanta, respectively, until then.

The first Sunset Limited from Los Angeles to extend past San Antonio, Texas, isn’t scheduled until Tuesday, Sept. 7; the first westbound won’t depart the until next Wednesday, Sept. 8.

The information on service resumption is based on the first trips shown in Amtrak’s reservation system on August 31 and is subject to change as conditions warrant. An advisory lists service as “suspended” for these trains and does not specify restoration dates.
