Hartland Locomotive Works halts train production
Large-scale model railroad equipment manufacturer Hartland Locomotive Works has ceased production, possibly for good.
The Laporte, Ind. company posted a letter May 28 on its website stating it has ceased train production due to difficulties in its overall business and the Covid-19 virus. It has been part of the hobby for more than 25 years.
“We may reopen production down the road. But at this time, we cannot, in good faith, make any guarantees. Therefore, for all intents and purposes, you should consider our production closed,” wrote HLW manager Becky Coates.
She added the company will be open to ship remaining inventory. Phil Jensen will continue to deal with warranty work and parts and service and can be contacted at (402) 571-2933.
